And then I started to work ... My first employer was the same college I graduated, where I made a significant contribution to several interesting projects, related to various aspects of data communication networks. Some of them are: operating the Yugoslav Academic and Research Network, building and operating the .YU Domain Registry (YU NIC), design of several nation-wide corporate and ISP networks.
In 1999 I joined KPNQwest in the Netherlands, where I had a nice opportunity to take part in operations and engineering of the second largest European IP backbone, while working in the Network Operations Center (NOC). A lot of nice projects there too, like building a completely new 2.5 Gbps IP backbone, staging and deploying metropolitain area networks, integration of two IP networks (AS286 and AS1755) into the same autonomous system and a lot - really a lot - of interesting routing and traffic engineering problems to solve!
In 2002 KPNQwest bankrupted and I joined KPN Telecom where I'm working today.
